Applications of CMAP+
CMAP+ is a global psychometric assessment designed by Psytech International UK one of the world’s most recognized and respected leaders in psychometric assessment design.
So how can it be relevant to Indian students?
At TC Global we have been shaping the lives and careers of Indian students for 25 years. More than 300,000 students pass through our doors and meet us on-line every year, across 24 branch locations in all regions of India. We know our students, what makes sense, and what doesnât.
For us, the challenge in offering a psychometric assessment which we believe in, was how to combine International quality with local relevance, without compromising either, because:
- Psytech International UK is world leaders in the design and publication of psychometric assessments for all people processes and follows International design standards.
- In India, some psychometric assessments have been designed locally, with good local relevance, but lack the rigor of international design standards.
We have worked hard to customize the CMAP+ assessment tool to ensure that it combines the best of international standards and quality along with domestic cultural adaptation.
This is how we have done it:
Criteria |
International standards and quality |
Indian domestic cultural adaptation built into TC Globalâs CMAP+ |
1 |
The CMAP+ assessment is a batch of 4 tests that have been used around the world for 20 years or more. Continual research and updates have ensured these are reliable and valid. |
The database of careers from which suggestions are generated in TC Globalâs CMAP+ has been modified so as to be relevant to Indian aspirational students seeking graduate level and above education and global employment, with additional emphasis on STEM and emerging careers. |
2 |
The assessment is designed according to Psychometric Principles, as determined by the British Psychological Society, using globally accepted Psychological Models of personality |
The models are the same in TC Globalâs CMAP+, but personality descriptors from the Psychological models created by John Holland and Cattel have been reworded so that they are easier to understand for students who speak English as a second language. |
3 |
The language used in the questions is âculturally neutralâ- it does not disadvantage anyone due to lack of knowledge of any particular culture |
The language used in the job titles in the career suggestions section of TC Globalâs CMAP+ report is adapted so that it is familiar to Indian students and parents. |
4 |
A Technical Manual is available to verify the reliability and validity of the assessment, using global examples. |
The norm group used by TC Globalâs CMAP+ to measure studentsâ results is an Indian student norm group. This ensures that studentsâ scores are measured against their peers. |
You can be confident that CMAP+ is entirely suitable for Indian students.
